Aerosols is a kinetic light and sound installation that makes the invisible visible—transforming real-time aerosol data into a mesmerizing play of light, motion, and air. Rising 3.5 meters tall, its curved LED wind chimes respond to nanoscale measurements of particle size, distribution, and human interaction, visualizing our impact on air quality through breath, movement, and wind.
As visitors move around or blow into nearby propellers, the installation shifts—LED patterns ripple, chimes spin, and an atmospheric soundscape responds, creating an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Blending nanometrology with public art, Aerosols turns scientific precision into a poetic reminder of our connection to the air we share.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the work minimizes energy use while raising awareness about environmental change—revealing how even the subtlest actions shape the atmosphere around us.
