Inspired by the historic Cheomseongdae Observatory in Gyeongju, South Korea, I imagined a star falling to Earth—its fragments melting together and appearing first through the ancient lens of the observatory. In this sculpture, Kebbel recreates the captured light of that star, pulsating and glowing through cracks and niches, as if the stone structure itself had absorbed a celestial event. It becomes a vessel for a cosmic phenomenon, projected onto Earth and made visible through light, texture, and time.
