Big Fin Sin Fin

Big Fin Sin Fin is a large-scale immersive light and sound installation that invites visitors to co-create within an endlessly expanding, glowing structure of infinite connection.

Big Fin Sin Fin is an experiential light and sound installation based on the original Fin Sin Fin sculpture. It merges sculpture, interactivity, and performance into a flowing, walk-in environment that unfolds like an immersive journey into the idea of infinity—where every end becomes a new beginning. Built from modular, light-reactive aluminium panels, the structure forms a puzzle-like 3D system that can expand infinitely, symbolizing cycles of connection, repetition, and transformation. In darkness, visitors engage with the piece using UV torches and laser pens, painting glowing traces onto its surface and becoming co-creators in a living light performance. Choreographed blue light sequences and layered soundscapes alternate with silence and shadow, intensifying the immersive atmosphere. Big Fin Sin Fin invites reflection, play, and a deep sense of continuity in a space where beginnings and endings dissolve.

Visitors interact with the installation using UV torches and laser pens to create glowing traces on fluorescent and phosphorescent surfaces, while a choreographed sequence of blue light and shadow transforms the space into a living, pulsating lightscape.

The installation is constructed using 333 precision-milled aluminium sandwich panels, each measuring 590 × 450 × 5 mm (23.2” × 17.7” × 0.19”), screen-printed with fluorescent and phosphorescent pigments. These elements are assembled into a modular, puzzle-like structure using various stainless steel wall and floor brackets, screws, and nuts. The complete installation spans approximately 6.5 meters in width and length, with a height of 2.6 meters (236” × 236” × 79”), and has a total weight of around one ton, including the structural components, integrated lighting, and sound equipment. The work includes a built-in light and sound show, alongside an interactive UV light performance activated by visitors using ultraviolet torches and laser pens.
