Polymorphia

Polymorphia is a modular, interactive light installation that transforms its shape and presence in dialogue with space, reflection, and human movement.

Polymorphia is a modular, walkable light installation that transforms with each site-specific arrangement. Composed of reflective, branching light structures and a central, geometric form, it adapts from amorphous fields to architectural shapes. Its mirrored surfaces merge with the environment, while interactive lighting responds to the movement of visitors—creating a dynamic, ever-evolving play of light and form. Polymorphia invites exploration and reflection, becoming a living structure shaped by space and presence.

The installation consists of modular, mirrored aluminum structures with branching LED elements and a reconfigurable central form. It is designed for flexible layouts—scalable in size and adaptable to indoor or outdoor environments. Motion sensors and programmable DMX lighting enable responsive, site-specific interactions.

Each element features addressable LED lines embedded in mirrored surfaces, creating responsive color shifts and gradients that react to movement, time, and environmental light. The installation can be programmed for ambient sequences or live interactivity.

Framework for Water-Based Light Artworks

Working in Water Environments

Working in water environments, each project is conceived as a fully integrated system, engineered for long-term public presence and spatial impact. Systems use weather-resistant, waterproof components with low maintenance requirements and are designed to integrate responsibly within public and natural contexts, with attention to safety and reliable all-weather operation.

Project Realization & Floating Structures

Installations are developed under the artist’s direction, with support from his Studio Malte Kebbel team, responding to site-specific conditions. Floating structures form an integral part of each system and are specified and provided by Malte Kebbel. Where appropriate, local collaborators or resources may be engaged under the artist’s direction to adapt the work to the site and context, ensuring each installation is both technically sound and artistically coherent.

Third Parties — Safety & Oversight
